Ricky Gervais and Piers Morgan Discuss the Golden Globes and More

Between his holiday message about being an atheist and his recent controversial hosting of the Golden Globes, Ricky Gervais has been making a lot of headlines lately. Of course, most of those headlines are provocative, but they are rarely backed up by substance.

The media seems to be particularly keen on playing up the controversy of Ricky's remarks during the Golden Globes. Some say he was too mean, others say celebrities should be able to take a joke. Many have focused on his "offensive" closing comment, "Thanks to god for making me an atheist."

Ricky recently appeared on CNN's new show, Piers Morgan Tonight, to talk about the Golden Globes, among other topics. What I discovered: the more I see of Ricky Gervais, the more I like him. As Anne of Green Gable would say, he's a kindred spirit.

If you missed the interview, you can watch it below:

Part Three (14 minutes):

Here are some of my favorite Ricky Gervais quotes from this interview:

"I think a comedian's job isn't just to make people laugh, it's to make people think."

"And this thing about not believing in god... There are... There are 2,780-odd gods, and so if you're a Christian, you believe in one of them and you don't believe in all the others, so--"

"Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but they can't have their own facts."
